Ask the Rabbi - Basic Concepts

Kabbalah and Non-Jews

Q: Does Kaballah teach that the Jews should seek to exterminate non-Jews from the Earth?

Q: It is said that the Kaballah teaches that the Jews should seek to exterminate non-Jews from the Earth because they are inherently evil. The non-Jews would therefore be foolish to align themselves with the children of Israel. Can you please explain these things which are mentioned in the Kabbalah?

A: The Kabbalah doesn’t teach any such absurd idea. One of the greatest kabbalists in all generations, Rav Chaim Vital, writes in Shaarei Kedushah that one of the conditions necessary for prophesy is to love every human being.
