Rav Cherki – video message for Elul 5774

Rav Oury Cherki in a video message for the month of Elul 5774: Elul, before the start of a new year, is a time for repentance, which is a bit scary, even depressing. It requires man to do a self reckoning. However, together with the fear, the trembling, and the fright that goes with it, there is also great joy in the soul because it is possible to repair the damage that has been done. Today there is an open clash between the West, which feels that man himself is the center of all existence, and the East, which insists that G-d is at the center of existence. For Judaism, THE DIALOGUE between G-d and man stands at the center of existence! When we repent, we enable the return of a fruitful and harmonic dialogue between man and G-d.
