True freedom is serving the Holy One, Blessed be He. One of the messages of Passover is the concept of unity. Everything in the world, including what appears to be good and what appears at first glance to be bad, is an expression of the unity of God. This is also the essence of the Passover Sacrifice, which like matza and bitter herbs symbolizes the unification of opposite forces.
Passover is a message of great news not just for the Jews but for all the people in the world: Freedom for everybody is possible! The exile of the world began after the splitting up of the population after the Tower of Babel, and Israel’s mission since then has been to gather the holy “sparks” of every nation and to reunite the people of the world. The return of Israel to its homeland is a sign of redemption for the whole world.
