Broadcast 3 Part 2 -Tu B’Shevat – Connection to the Land of Israel

In the third Brit Olam broadcast, Rabbi Chanan Morrison discusses two ways Tu B’Shevat is celebrated – eating fruits and planting trees.

“Tu B’Shevat: the Eternal Connection of the Jewish People to the Land of Israel” – Rabbi Chanan Morrison, in the third Brit Olam live broadcast, speaks about the two customs related to Tu B’Shevat, the new year for plants and especially trees. The first custom is hundreds of years old – on this date all over the world, fruits grown in the Land of Israel are eaten. The second custom is to plant new trees in Israel on Tu B’Shevat. The two customs taken together are an expression of our love for the land from far away and of our hopes and plans for the future.
